Section 57
Exclusive rights

(1) When arresting an offender involved in forest and wildlife-related offenses under this Act, within or outside the forest area, the offender shall not be arrested, or if there is a situation in which someone attempts to escape the offender even after the arrest is made, or if there is a situation where the life of the arresting person is in danger, the weapon shall not be drawn. If it occurs, by the order of the Divisional Forest Officer, the staff or security personnel assigned for forest protection can shoot below the knee.
(2) Even if someone has encroached upon the land of the national forest area or has made a house enclosure on such land, the Divisional Forest Officer or the forest officer or forest assistant appointed by him may remove the encroachment or demolish the enclosure and may also confiscate the crops planted in such area.
(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (2), the provisions of that sub-section shall not affect any other punishment under this Act.
